Rochester Americans and Knighthawks President Lewis Staats recently presented Pluta Cancer Center President and CEO John Oberlies with a check for $2,128. The Rochester Americans/Knighthawks Charitable Foundation raised $15,644.55 this season through the two teams’ annual Breast Cancer Nights at the Blue Cross Arena. Pluta Cancer Center is one of five local cancer-related organizations that is receiving proceeds this summer from the Americans and Knighthawks. The other organizations are Gilda’s Club, the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, and Wilmot Cancer Center.
“The Rochester Americans and Knighthawks are pleased to help out these five wonderful organizations in the Rochester area,” Staats said.
“We are very grateful to the Americans, Knighthawks, and their fans for their extraordinary support,” Oberlies said.
Funds raised through community efforts like this support Pluta Cancer Center’s ability to offer an extra level of care. These services include support groups, nutrition counseling, massage therapy, tai chi, yoga, medication, groceries, and transportation for patients.
